Corporate Responsibility at DHL

Corporate Responsibility is a core element of our corporate strategy. Acting responsibly as a company means we treat our employees, the environment, the interests of society and the capital that has been entrusted to us in a manner that is respectful and sustainable. Only in this way can we be successful in the long term.

DHL Switzerland supports sustainable environmental protection

As the largest global logistics provider, DHL accepts responsibility for promoting sustainable environmental development. The reason being that the transport sector is one of the main generators of global greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for a good 13 percent of those emissions (source: IPCC established by UNEP).

DHL is the first company in the logistics and CEP market to have made a commitment along with its parent company, Deutsche Post DHL, to set a measurable climate protection goal: for every item shipped and for every square meter of space used, the aim is to improve efficiency in regard to the carbon emissions of our own by 30 percent by 2020 (compared to the base year 2007).

In addition to its own initiatives, DHL is also a signatory to the UN Global Compact which is committed to preventative action, environmental initiatives and the use of environmentally-friendly technologies. Efficient use of our transport network and of our advanced logistics expertise not only benefits our company, it also reduces the impact that our business activities have on the environment.

Making a positive impact - globally and locally

Deutsche Post DHL is committed to making a lasting and positive change in the world by using its knowledge and global presence in ways that benefit people and the environment. We focus on three strategic areas of involvement - GoGreen, GoHelp and GoTeach - to live up our responsibility. We always encourage our employees to volunteer in corporate and local projects.
